for a practical, local, circular economy.

A “Workshop in the City” for a local, circular economy

  • Repair

The first step of a circular economy is to is to keep the product in use as long as possible. This requires a standardised, cost-effective and profitable repair process. Our proposition is a local “workshop, in the city” where the product was made at the first place.. The product can be returned with reduced logistics cost or repaired on site for local clients when more economical.

  • Refurbish

Circular product are designed for easy refurbishment. All product parts are made from wearable materials, refurbished by sanding , brushing, repainting etc … Solid timber, aluminium, bamboo ply with thick layer, or laminates with special glue removable by microwaves. The circular workshop is a “symetrical workshop” where each machine is mirrored by another capable of undoing the transformation : Drill/Plug - Paint /Brush - Laminate/Delaminate - Bend/Straighten

  • Remake

The real challenge of a circular economy is to meet demand with returned products.
All the products of Atelier 0 are designed as a system of modular parts, which can be altered slightly in the workshop to be reused to make a wide range of new products. This “Adjustable Modules” product design method is the key for a real circular economy.

Products designed to close the circle

A circular economy needs products designed with a new, specific focus : “Closing the circle”.

Instead of designing for production , retail , or packaging, like we do today, RenewHaus design is focused on the moment the product is returned and needs to be repaired, refurbished, or remade into another product.

The design of the “returning experience” receives the same care as we give today to the “shopping experience”

Local is logical

We are officially biased: Our point of view is that the solution for a successful, circular economy is local. Our angle is to reduce the size of the circle, to reduce logistics, and stick to simple manufacturing processes.
Our model is the “Workshop in the city” . We know this is an economy that the public likes. The 15 minutes city is our starting point.
